Acne can be frustrating for anybody. There are many forms of acne medication out there today but the best way to treat acne is to prevent it before it comes up. We’re going to go over some of the causes of acne so that you will better be able to prevent it in the future.

Acne Myths

For various reasons, myths about how acne breakouts occur have arisen. We don’t know how or why but we do know that they are, for the most part, false. Here is a simple list of acne myths.

Acne is Hereditary
Some studies do suggest that acne can be passed down through the X chromosome. Therefore, many claim that if your mom had acne during any point in her life, you will too.

The fact is, not enough is known to prove this theory. In fact, there are many people whose parents had completely clear skin and yet they have acne. On the flipside, there are many parents who either currently have or in the past had acne but their kids remain pimple free.

Don’t be too discouraged if your parents have or had acne. It’s not necessarily hereditary.

Stress Makes You Break Out
The fact is acne can be cause by hormonal imbalances (which will be discussed below). Stress can add to an acne breakout but it cannot lead to a hormonal imbalance powerful enough to single-handedly cause a breakout.

So quit stressing!

Chocolate Causes Acne
Chocolate is said to contain fats and sugars that can make the skin oily and cause an acne breakout. The truth is chocolate by itself cannot cause acne.

However, some researchers say that a person’s diet can affect acne breakouts. We will discuss that below, but to include chocolate in your diet does not mean facial suicide.

Truths Revealed

So what are some causes of acne? Let’s go over some of them so you can be better able to prevent future breakouts.

Touch
Pressure from a hand, hat, chin strap, headband, etc. can cause acne. This is because the skin becomes aggravated which allows the breakout to occur. The best way to prevent this is to simple be cautious of things that can apply pressure to the skin.

Diet

We discussed chocolate earlier as being a no factor in acne breakouts. Overall diet can play a role however. This is because the food we take into our bodies has a direct effect on our insulin levels. Insulin is a hormone that can play a role in acne breakouts.

The simplest remedy for this is to watch what you eat. Fruits and vegetables must be part of your diet. Also, seafood, like fish, contains omega-3 fatty acids that can reduce the risk of breaking out.

Hormones
Events like pregnancy, menstrual cycle, and puberty can play a big role in acne breakouts because they alter our hormonal balance. Unfortunately there is not much to do to prevent this other than taking acne medication and keeping the skin clean.

Cosmetics
Before you go throwing all of your make-up away, pay attention. Only oil-based skin products pose a risk of acne breakout. This is because the oil clogs the pores. Pay attention to labels and buy only water-based products.

One Final Point

Acne is virtually never 100 percent preventable. You will more than likely break out at least once in life. However, follow these steps and you will greatly reduce the risk of a breakout. As always, good luck!

Homemade Acne Wash

<img src="http://www.acnewash.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/face-wash1.jpg" alt="Homemade Acne Wash" title="face-wash" width="300" height="300" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-1087"style="float:left;margin: 0px 15px 0px 0px" />There is nothing more embarrassing than dealing with acne on a daily basis. There are so many remedies and concoctions out there it is often hard to know which ones will work for you. It is discouraging as well when you find a program that works for you and then have to spend hundreds of dollars to maintain that regimen.

Lucky for you, there are plenty of homemade acne wash and mask remedies that you can try that may give you the relief you need without costing you a fortune.
There are a number of homemade facial washes that are easy to mix and cheap to make. In fact, many of them are so inexpensive you can try multiple remedies until you find one that works best for you and you’ll still be spending a lot less than if you had purchased one.

Oatmeal Cleanser

Oatmeal is a great way to exfoliate and soothe the skin. Start by putting ½ cup of uncooked oatmeal into a bowl. Add 2 tbsp. plain yogurt and mix into a paste. Apply this paste to your face and let it sit for ten minutes before rinsing completely.

Apple Honey Cleanser

This mixture requires apple juice, skim milk and honey. Mix 1 tbsp apple juice and 2 tbsp skim milk together in a bowl. Fold in 1 tsp honey and then apply it to your already damp face. Rub gently for about a minute and then rinse.<img src="http://www.acnewash.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/wash.jpg" alt="Homemade Acne Wash" title="wash" width="194" height="259" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-1093"style="float:right;margin: 5px 0px 0px 10px" />

Strawberry Yogurt Cleanser

Start this mixture out by spooning 2 tbsp strawberry yogurt into a bowl. Add in 2 tbsp plain yogurt and stir until it is completely mixed together. Rub this mixture gently onto your skin for one to two minutes. It will help to calm skin oils and fight acne.

In addition to washes, there are excellent acne masks that can be made at home that can provide you with extra needed acne relief.

Baking Soda Mask

Baking soda has long been hailed as skin cleanser. This simple mask only has two ingredients, baking soda and water. Apply the mask and let it sit for 20 minutes before washing off your face.

Egg White Mask

Be sure not to use this mask if you have any allergies to eggs. Separate one egg white, beat it until it becomes soft and frothy. Apply it directly to your face and let it sit for about 20 minutes. You can do the same thing with an egg yolk.

Acne Tonic

For this mask you need 3 tsp of dried basil leaves and boiling water. Place the basil leaves in the boiling water and then leave it to cool. When cooled, apply with a cotton ball.

Final Thoughts

These are just a few of the simple solutions you can make at home to help remove your acne. There are many other homemade solutions. Some people suggest trying sea salt, a lemon/sugar scrub, or a mashed cucumber paste. With all of these options you are sure to find something that will work for you.

Acneprin

Although topical acne treatments can reduce the appearance of pimples, only oral supplements can heal acne from the inside out. Acneprin, a newly released acne treatment, claims to stop acne before it starts by killing acne-causing bacteria, controlling hormone levels, detoxifying your body, and strengthening your skin against future damage.

What should I know about Acneprin?

Acneprin is an herbal supplement that works with your body to eliminate acne, targeting the source rather than the symptoms. This promising new product feeds your skin essential vitamins and nutrients have been proven to promote healthy clear skin with minimal side-effects.

Acne is originally caused by an overproduction of sebum (oil produced naturally in the skin), which then clogs pores and causes breakouts. Acneprin claims to regulate the hormones responsible for sebum production, minimizing the frequency and severity of blackheads and breakouts.

Inside the Bottle

Inside every bottle is over 100 capsules specifically designed to help eliminate acne. When used correctly, this acne treatment can promote healthier skin by utilizing the following ingredients:
•	Vitamin A
•	Vitamin B5
•	Vitamin B6
•	Zinc
•	Vitamin C
•	Biotin
•	Folic Acid

Acneprin also contains Apple Cider Vinegar, Lemon, White Willow Bark and other essential ingredients that have been specifically chosen for their abilities to promote clear, healthy skin.

Pros of Acneprin

•	Multi-approach method: Unlike other acne treatments, Acneprin uses 4 methods to eliminate acne, not just one. By killing acne causing bacteria, cleansing your body of harmful toxins, regulating hormones, and strengthen skin, Acneprin is more likely to reduce the appearance of acne than a single focus approach.

•	Clinically proven ingredients: Ingredients such as Vitamin C and A promote the production of collagen (keeping skin elastic and smooth) while Vitamin B5 is a natural moisturizer. When combined with other skin care ingredients such as Lemon (an antiseptic) and Folic Acid (promotes production of health cells), you have the basics for a winning formula.

•	Oral Supplement: Topical acne treatments are good for treating mild acne symptoms and for maintaining healthy skin. However, only oral supplements can help stop what triggers acne breakouts in the first place, working from the inside out rather than treating the surface alone.

Cons of Acneprin

•	Acneprin is a new product: Currently very few websites actually sell this product, making it difficult to purchase. However, as Acneprin picks up more publicity, undoubtedly this will change.

•	Too few customer reviews: Lack of consumer input moves Acneprin from the top of the line up to the back of the shelf. Without actual reviews verifying this supplement’s effectiveness, cautious consumers may refrain from purchasing this product to treat breakouts, even if Acneprin is a good formula.

•	Lacking clinical trial results: As additional proof of this product’s effectiveness, Clinical trials can offer valuable information about Acneprin. It’s difficult to determine whether or not Acneprin really works without detailed information that can be found during a clinical trial and how those results were achieved.

Additional variants such as duration of use, skin types, etc. can play a key role in whether or not an individual will respond to treatment.

Conclusion

This recently released acne treatment appears to be an excellent alternative to face cleansers and other topical treatments. Rather than simply masking the appearance of pimples, Acneprin goes deep to stop acne at its source.

Acneprin’s formula contains clinically proven ingredients that can promote healthy skin, but whether or not this product will eliminate acne depends entirely on the individual consumer and the severity of his or her acne.

Natural Acne Treatments

<img src="http://www.acnewash.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/acne.jpg" alt="" title="" width="190" height="195" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-819"style="float:left;margin: 5px 10px 0px 0px"/>Those red little blemishes that appear all over your face can hurt, along with make you feel extremely self-conscious. Acne, however, is something almost everyone has to deal with at some point in their lives or another.

There are all kinds of products out there which claim to help fight acne or to prevent it from ever happening. But spending lots of money on these products isn’t necessary to fight this skin condition. There are many natural cures and preventive measures you can take with products found in your home, or are very easy to obtain.

The Root of the Problem

Understanding this condition is the first step in learning successful ways on how to combat it. Despite what people think, bacteria doesn’t cause acne, neither does poor hygiene. Acne appears as blackheads, whiteheads, pimples, or cysts. They appear when pores become clogged with sebum, an oil made by the skin. Hormones affect sebum and can cause the skin to produce more of this oil, which is why teenagers get more acne conditions than adults.

Bacteria love this oil on our skin, so the more oil the body produces, the more the bacteria thrive, causing the inflammation to swell up and become painful. It might not be possible to stop pores from clogging, but you can definitely reduce the occurrences of these blemishes.

Natural Remedies

<img src="http://www.acnewash.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/drink-water.jpg" alt="" title="" width="277" height="182" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-826"style="float:right;margin: 5px 10px 0px 0px"/>Before you go to the doctor, learn about some of the different options out there to help your acne naturally, before you risk the harsh side effects associated with prescription drugs. Here is a list of things you can do to treat your acne naturally:
1.	Drink Water. The human body thrives on water. It needs for many reasons, but to fight acne your body needs it to help get rid of toxins in the body. Water helps flush these toxins out and helps keep your skin nice and supple.
2.	Get Your Vitamins. In order to function properly your body needs its essential vitamins and minerals. Try taking a multivitamin high in vitamins A, C, K, E, and all of the B vitamins to ensure your body is getting what it needs to have healthy skin cells.
3.	Watch Your Diet. Avoid high fat foods, foods high in sugar, and dairy products, as these products cause the body to create more oil which causes more breakouts. Instead, focus on healthier options like fruits and vegetables which give your body the nutrients it needs to work properly.
4.	Use Honey. Surprisingly, honey has many antioxidants and is great for your skin. Use it as a mask about twice a week to moisturize, cleanse, and rejuvenate your skin.
5.	Wash Your Hands and Face. Keeping bacteria from mixing with the oils on your face helps prevent acne breakouts.
6.	Try Apple Cider Vinegar.<img src="http://www.acnewash.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/face-wash.jpg" alt="" title="" width="180" height="190" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-835"style="float:left;margin: 5px 10px 0px 0px"/> If you can handle the taste of it, try drinking it either straight or mixed with lemon juice. This liquid is extremely good for your skin and body because it helps lower fat deposits, which slows the oil formation.

Keep Your Skin Healthy

These natural acne fighters will help your skin feel and look better, without harsh side effects which come with prescription drugs. Not only will these tips help your skin, but they’ll help improve your overall health. Try them, and see what these tips can do!

Acne Treatment Tips

The best way to fight acne is to prevent it. “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure”! Here are a few tips to help you prevent acne:

Acne Fighting Tips

1. Exercise- regular exercise fights off negative stress levels. Keeping your body healthy keeps your skin healthy. Exercise also increases blood circulation which helps with the elimination of toxins. Be sure to shower right after you exercise though. Sweating is good for your skin, but not if you keep sweaty clothing against your skin for too long. Also, wear lose fitting clothing that won’t keep your sweat pressed against your skin.

2. Use Safe Cosmetics- use products that say “noncomedogenic” or “oil-free” to avoid pore-clogging and skin irritations. Also, it’s better to choose “hypo-allergenic” products and keep your makeup brushes clean. If you can, go without makeup. It’ll keep your pores clear and allow your skin to heal.

3. Eat Healthy- diet does not play a role in either the cause or the treatment on acne; however, it is good for your body which is ultimately good for your skin. Make sure you get enough vitamins and minerals to prevent and combat acne breakouts.

4. Don’t Pick of Pop- picking and popping pimples and blackheads opens the blemish to more bacteria. It also irritates the blemish, causing them to become more inflated, red, and sensitive.

5. Drink Water- the required amount of water your body needs a day is about 8 glasses. Drinking enough water will help to flush the toxins out of your body.

6. Wash Twice Daily- wash once in the morning and once in the evening with soap free facial cleanser. Remove your make up at the end of the day as well. Make-up can clog pores and cause breakouts. However, don’t over-wash your face. Over washing can actually stimulates the glands under the skin to produce more oil, which will worsen the acne.

7. Get Sunshine and Fresh Air- sunshine stimulates the production of vitamin D in the body which is absolutely essential for healthy skin. Getting some sun and fresh air also helps to reduce stress levels. Studies show that stress worsens acne breakouts and is bad for overall skin conditions. However, don’t get burnt. Sun burned skin and heavily tanned skin forms a layer that you cannot exfoliate as well. This can cause your acne to worsen.

Conclusion

The best thing to do to keep your skin clear and the acne at bay is to stay healthy. Keeping your body healthy keeps your skin clear. Also, be gentle with your skin. Wash often, only wear makeup when you need to , and don’t pop your zits!

Fight Acne Naturally

Everyone wants clear, smooth skin, and a wide variety of products are claiming to give you just that. Unfortunately, many of these are packed with synthetic and artificial ingredients that can potentially cause further damage to the delicate skin on your face (and just between you and me, these products can be very expensive to use).

So what can you do at home to fight acne naturally?

Give it Time

Sure it’s tough. You want that pimple gone. And gone for good. And though squeezing it may seem like the fastest solution, it can lead to even more breakouts. Popping a pimple can push the trapped mix of sebum and skin cells deeper in the follicle, spreading the infection and possibly causing acne scarring. So keep your hands off! Your skin will heal on its own.

Additionally, effective acne treatments take time, even as long as two to three months before you’ll see any visible changes in your skin. Some treatments may even require you to make a few changes in your lifestyle, such as eating a healthy diet and drinking enough water.

Because acne is controlled by a change in hormones, genetics play a huge role in determining whether your skin is clear or not. If you want real results, you have to work with your body, not against it. Understand what your skin needs to stay healthy and find a routine that works for you as an individual.

Quick Fixes for Clearer Skin

That being said, there are multiple at home remedies for acne that can help reduce the appearance of pimples temporarily, even if they can’t rid you of breakouts permanently. The following fixes are safe, natural ways to improving your skin, and you’re welcome to experiment with any and all of these methods.

Don’t do them all at once!

Try them out gradually, the more you expose your skin changes, the more you risk having a reaction. The skin on your face is delicate—treat it as such!

Orange peel
Oranges are a delicious way to fight acne. Mash up the peel and mix it with water. Put the mix on your face. Don’t forget to eat the fruit! It’s a good source of Vitamin C and is also good for your skin.

Strawberries
These bright red berries are an excellent source of salicylic acid and an excellent way to fight acne naturally. Cut a strawberry in half and rub it directly on your face for a few minutes. If you want, you can even make a weekly facial mask with ½ cup pureed strawberries and a tablespoon of sour cream.

Garlic
What do you know! Garlic is useful for fighting vampires and acne!. Rub some raw garlic over your pimples several times a day. You may have to hold your breath though.

Lemons
Lemons are strong so be careful when using them, and make sure you don’t have any open cuts first. Carefully squeeze some lemon juice onto the affected area. Don’t get it in your eyes! Apply this regularly to minimize breakouts.

Cucumber
There’s a reason people use cucumbers when getting a facial. Cucumbers are considered the best natural toner for your skin. Take 15 to 20 minutes out of your day and relax. Apply some grated cucumber slices on your face to reduce the appearance of acne.

Don’t Forget to Ask a Doctor

These methods are fun, affordable, and easy fixes for acne. However, they’re not guaranteed to work for everyone. Although they are definitely worth trying, don’t be afraid to ask your doctor or dermatologist for advice. You wouldn’t want to make your skin worse!

Home remedies will not provide a permanent cure for acne, but if you’re looking for a quick fix without the extra cost, these natural acne treatments will do in a pinch.

There are a lot of dos and don’ts for acne, and there isn’t just one universal rule to treat it. An acne wash is a great way to help prevent acne because it cleanses the skin, but it isn’t a sure solution. Having an acne wash alongside a treatment can really be beneficial for the skin and that is exactly what the Natralia Acne Rescue Kit has in mind.

The Acne Rescue Kit sounds like it might be a giant bag of products that requires a 30 minute regimen when you wake up and before you go to bed; but it is really just a facial wash and an acne treatment cream. The two-step kit cleans the skin and controls acne.

The duo in this kit is all-natural. The homeopathic blends address acne with herbal remedies to avoid acne medications that can irritate the skin.

The facial wash is the first step in the kit. The Acne Rescue Wash cleanses the skin with witch hazel to kill bacteria alongside tea tree oil. The wash also contains calendula extract as an anti-inflammatory agent and lavender to soothe the skin.

The Acne Rescue Cream also contains witch hazel and tea tree oil. Other key ingredients include chamomile to control inflammation, aloe vera to moisturize the skin, and rose hip to erase acne scars.

For those with sensitive skin, the Acne Rescue Kit can beneficial because it addresses acne without any harsh ingredients like salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide.

The problem with the kit is that some people report experiencing the “it gets worse before it gets better” effect, which is unnecessary. There are alternative treatments that don’t force you to suffer before you get the clear complexion you are working toward.

An acne wash helps purify the skin but sometimes it helps to have an extra kick. An acne wash alone simply removes impurities, but alongside other treatments an acne wash can really be beneficial for the skin. Clear Therapy is an acne treatment with three products that should control and remove acne and possibly even prevent pimples.

Clear Therapy offers a facial wash, oil-free moisturizer, and acne treatment cream. The facial wash is like a primer. The wash cleanses the skin from impurities and preps the skin to receive additional treatment. The wash contains benzoyl peroxide to destroy acne-causing bacteria as well as pumice and walnut shell to exfoliate the skin.

The use of benzoyl peroxide has been known to cause skin irritation, dry skin, and redness. In order to help reduce the likelihood of experiencing these side effects, Clear Therapy offers a moisturizer. The moisturizer helps hydrate the skin after the cleanser may have stripped necessary nutrients. The moisturizer has hyaluronic acid, jojoba seed oil, hydrolyzed collagen, and hydrolyzed elastin to soothe the skin and promote stronger skin.

The final step for Clear Therapy is the Acne Treatment. The cream should be applied to acne-prone areas in order to deliver 5% benzoyl peroxide (BPO), tea tree oil, chamomile extract, and aloe extract. This treatment has antibacterial agents and antioxidant benefits to help support healthier looking skin.

Clear Therapy is a complete skin care regimen that can help control mild to moderate acne. However there is one thing sketchy about Clear Therapy. Clear Therapy is practically identical to another system called RevitaClear. Both systems have the same three products with the same formulas, which may mean these two treatments could be made by one company marketing the products under two different names.

There are some acne washes that are strong enough to combat blemishes alone, however a complete acne system stands a better chance at being more effective. Clearogen is an anti-acne treatment with three steps to help erase acne and prevent pimples. Clearogen offers a cleanser, toner, and lotion to promote healthier looking skin.

Clearogen was developed by a Board Certified dermatologist, as most skincare products should be. Clearogen takes a different approach toward removing acne by reducing DHT. DHT is a hormone in the skin that stimulates oil glands and by reducing DHT excess oil that clogs acne is less prevalent.

Clearogen is a combination of acne medications and natural ingredients to control and reduce existing acne as well as stop the acne break-out cycle. Step one for clearer skin using this system is the Clearogen Foaming Cleanser. The cleanser cleans the skin and wipes away dirt, makeup, and bacteria. The formula includes 2% salicylic acid to penetrate the pores and kill bacteria. Another ingredient includes Di-PPG-2-Mureth-10 Adipate to help reduce skin irritation. Other ingredients seem to be fillers.

The second step after the cleanser is the Clearogen Clarifying Toner. The toner uses 1% salicylic acid alongside witch hazel to reduce swelling and inflammation while also killing bacteria that can spread acne.

The most important step in Clearogen is the Acne Lotion. The Acne Lotion is the anti-DHT treatment. The formula has a number of ingredients including 2.5% benzoyl peroxide. Benzoyl peroxide is an antibacterial agent that helps with skin cell turnover to remove acne.

The decent part about Clearogen is that the site offers several studies to prove the ingredients in the system are capable of reducing oil production. The core acne medications, like salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide, may be common in treatments but Clearogen also provides botanicals capable of treating mild to moderate acne. Clearogen seems to be a decent anti-acne system.

RevitaClear

Pairing the right acne wash with other products can be a recipe for disaster. Finding an existing system that combines acne-fighting products eliminates the potential of irritating the skin with ingredients that don’t play nice together. RevitaClear is an anti-acne system with three products, including an acne wash, to help clear the skin.

RevitaClear provides you with a cleanser, acne treatment gel, and a moisturizer to deliver acne medication and hydrating agents in order to erase acne and prevent pimples. The RevitaClear cleanser is the first step in the treatment and it uses walnut shell and pumice to exfoliate the skin. The exfoliation removes impurities like dirt and excess oil. The cleanser also uses benzoyl peroxide (BPO) as an antibacterial agent.

Once the skin is cleansed, the RevitaClear Acne Treatment delivers 5% BPO, tea tree oil, aloe extract, and chamomile extract in a gel. The gel dries into your skin to help reduce acne. Not that this is a big deal, but RevitaClear really emphasizes that they include a whopping 5% benzoyl peroxide and studies report that this dose is not any better than 2.5%. In fact, higher doses of BPO increase the risk of experiencing skin irritation.

The last step for the system is the RevitaClear Moisturizer. The moisturizer calms the skin down with jojoba seed oil, hyaluronic acid, hydrolyzed collagen, and hydrolyzed elastin. This formula layers the skin with these soothing agents to keep the skin hydrated.

The primary problem with RevitaClear is that the entire system really only has one acne fighting agent, benzoyl peroxide. BPO does help treat acne, but with a three product treatment we expect more. Buying any benzoyl peroxide-based product alongside a moisturizer will be just as effective as RevitaClear. Again, it is not that RevitaClear is bad it just isn’t really worth the money.
