Now frankly speaking, your doctor won’t always do what’s in your best interest. I’ve never met a dermatologist who will recommend natural treatments for example, even if they’re cheaper, less risky, have fewer side effects, or otherwise they are more effective. This is because why do you really need to go to them if you can get it elsewhere and otherwise over the counter.
They won’t tell you that you can get benzoyl peroxide they’re giving you over the counter at a cheaper price, that would just be losing them money. They are often actually getting paid by companies if only with lunch to promote certain products, and oftentimes doctors don’t actually do all their research, they just listen to what they are being told at that time, which really isn’t all that helpful to you.
This being said, I actually switched dermatologists, because he decided that I was a good candidate for an experimental treatment they were trying to test out without actually telling me. That wasn’t pretty, and there was a reason they were still experimenting, trying to determine all the side effects. It never actually made it to the popular market. But after that, actually I ended up dropping dermatologists in favor of natural treatments after a few months with another dermatologist. So all I’m saying is don’t take medical ways as your only ways in terms of actually dealing with something such as acne.
