Acne Treatment Tips
The best way to fight acne is to prevent it. “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure”! Here are a few tips to help you prevent acne:
Acne Fighting Tips
1. Exercise- regular exercise fights off negative stress levels. Keeping your body healthy keeps your skin healthy. Exercise also increases blood circulation which helps with the elimination of toxins. Be sure to shower right after you exercise though. Sweating is good for your skin, but not if you keep sweaty clothing against your skin for too long. Also, wear lose fitting clothing that won’t keep your sweat pressed against your skin.
2. Use Safe Cosmetics- use products that say “noncomedogenic” or “oil-free” to avoid pore-clogging and skin irritations. Also, it’s better to choose “hypo-allergenic” products and keep your makeup brushes clean. If you can, go without makeup. It’ll keep your pores clear and allow your skin to heal.
3. Eat Healthy- diet does not play a role in either the cause or the treatment on acne; however, it is good for your body which is ultimately good for your skin. Make sure you get enough vitamins and minerals to prevent and combat acne breakouts.
4. Don’t Pick of Pop- picking and popping pimples and blackheads opens the blemish to more bacteria. It also irritates the blemish, causing them to become more inflated, red, and sensitive.
5. Drink Water- the required amount of water your body needs a day is about 8 glasses. Drinking enough water will help to flush the toxins out of your body.
6. Wash Twice Daily- wash once in the morning and once in the evening with soap free facial cleanser. Remove your make up at the end of the day as well. Make-up can clog pores and cause breakouts. However, don’t over-wash your face. Over washing can actually stimulates the glands under the skin to produce more oil, which will worsen the acne.
7. Get Sunshine and Fresh Air- sunshine stimulates the production of vitamin D in the body which is absolutely essential for healthy skin. Getting some sun and fresh air also helps to reduce stress levels. Studies show that stress worsens acne breakouts and is bad for overall skin conditions.
However, don’t get burnt. Sun burned skin and heavily tanned skin forms a layer that you cannot exfoliate as well. This can cause your acne to worsen.
Conclusion
The best thing to do to keep your skin clear and the acne at bay is to stay healthy. Keeping your body healthy keeps your skin clear. Also, be gentle with your skin. Wash often, only wear makeup when you need to , and don’t pop your zits!
